Abstract

Purpose The article aims to clarify the relationship between supply chain digitalization and the technological innovation of new energy vehicle (NEV) enterprises, as well as the role of supply chain configuration and supply chain discourse power in this process. Design/methodology/approach This article constructs a comprehensive evaluation index system for supply chain digitalization, employs a moderated mediating effect model and utilizes the data of China's A-share listed NEV enterprises from 2012 to 2023 to explore the relationship between supply chain digitalization and the technological innovation of NEV enterprises. Findings The article suggests that supply chain digitalization acts as a driver and with a more pronounced effect observed in non-state-owned NEV enterprises and those located in regions with well-developed digital ecosystems. Supply chain configuration diversification serves as a key channel and is positively mediated by supply chain discourse power. Originality/value This article enriches the literature on supply chain digitalization and provides insights into supply chain management for technological innovation in NEV enterprises.
