Abstract

More knowledge is needed on the performance and readiness of the European public financial architecture to best tackle the formidable socio-economic, geo-political and climate change-related challenges that Europe and the rest of the world face. We identify five core areas of concern and, specifically, how effectively the European public financial architecture: serves its member state shareholders; coordinates its lending; promotes green finance; fosters sustainable development; and facilitates development in Africa. We provide a number of solutions designed to build a stronger financial architecture for Europe.
