Socially Responsible Supplier Selection: Examining the Effects of Socially Sustainable Orientation and Stakeholder Pressure on Implementation Intentions
This study examines the effects of stakeholder pressure and company's orientation in shaping managers' intentions to implementing socially responsible supplier selection. We employed a 2 x 2 full-factorial, scenario-based, role-playing experiment. Subjects were managers familiar with purchasing/supply chain topics from Brazil, the U.K., and the U.S. The hypotheses were tested using linear regression models. The findings suggest that when a company is under pressure to act in a socially responsible manner, the effect of a socially sustainable orientation on managers' intentions to implement socially responsible supplier selection is greater.
