Supporting the knowledge-based companies is highly emphasized for the maximum productivity of the educated and creative youth to progress and satisfy the needs of the country. In this regard, science and technology park incubators aim to help young entrepreneurs, create opportunities to transform their ideas into products, and help the firm's growth and development by accepting start-up companies and providing various services so that businesses would survive and continue their activities after leaving the parks and incubators. Psychological capital increase is considered as one of the fruitful factors in improving the productivity of companies. This study aimed to analyze the psychological capital of knowledge-based companies in Science and Technology Park incubators of Fars province, Iran. In addition, the effect of services provided in Fars Science and Technology Park, entrepreneurial orientation, social capital, and product development process on psychological capital was evaluated. The population included the companies located in the Science and Technology Park incubators of Fars province. A random sample of 238 individuals was selected based on formula. The data was collected through a questionnaire and data analysis was performed using SPSS 16 and SmartPLS 3. The results indicated that the psychological capital of companies was at average level. The services provided in the park, entrepreneurial orientation, social capital, and product development process had a positive effect on psychological capital. Considering the investment on the provided services (amount and the ways of provided services and so on, depending on the type of companies) in science and technology park incubators can improve the psychological capital of knowledge-based companies directly and indirectly by affecting their entrepreneurial orientation, social capital increase and technology development of companies. Focusing on the programs and factors increasing the entrepreneurial orientation and social capital of companies is one of the specific suggestions for improving the psychological capital of knowledge-based companies. • The study explores self-efficacy, hope, resilience, and optimism in entrepreneurship, a less-explored area in business research. • Psychological capital plays a key role in business performance and survival, especially in the early years of the business cycle. • Incubator services, entrepreneurial orientation, social capital, and product development positively impact psychological capital. • Findings help managers of science and technology parks improve startup firms' psychological capital through better decision-making.
