What the paper says

There is a notable lack of empirical research exploring the impact of digitalization enablers on financial technology (FinTech) innovation to boost financial firms' performance. Therefore, our present research aims to investigate the influence of digital capability, digital orientation, digital culture and digital strategy on FinTech innovation. It further investigates how FinTech innovation affects financial firms’ performance in Jordan. A survey-based quantitative approach was applied to collect data from managers working in financial firms in Jordan. The empirical data were analyzed through partial least squares path modeling to test the hypothesized relationships between constructs. The findings reveal that digital capability, digital orientation, and digital culture each have a positive and significant impact on FinTech innovation, whereas digital strategy does not demonstrate a significant effect. Furthermore, our results indicate that FinTech innovation has a positive and significant influence on both market and financial performance within the context of financial firms in Jordan. This study represents one of the first empirical investigations to explore how digitalization can be leveraged to drive FinTech innovation and, in turn, enhance financial firms' performance in developing economies such as Jordan.
