This study investigates the impact of quality of work life (QoWL) and job satisfaction on organisational commitment (OC) among academic professionals working in Indian educational institutions. Furthermore, it explores the mediating impact of QoWL between job satisfaction and OC. It uses a descriptive and cross-sectional research design, with data gathered through a survey instrument comprising 28 adapted scale items from previously validated scales. A total of 441 teaching staff were selected and participated through purposive sampling. Findings indicate that competition and rewards, along with job satisfaction, organisational support, career opportunity chances, and the atmosphere of the work environment, significantly enhance the state of QoWL among employees. Further findings were that both job satisfaction and QoWL positively impacted OC. The results also indicate a positive and significant mediating impact of QoWL on job satisfaction and OC within Indian academia.
