Multi-regional input-output (MRIO) models depict a fairly complete picture of interdependencies across various industrial/infrastructure sectors and across multiple regions within an advanced economy. They enable the analysis of potential losses across sectors/regions when disruption occurs over one or more regions, supporting decision-makers in economic and infrastructure planning for a resilient city/state. This paper outlines different types of input-output tables, detailing their construction methods, and subsequently proposes a much less data-constrained regionalisation framework for constructing MRIO tables by leveraging accessible datasets. The accuracy of the approach is validated through comparisons with case studies involving the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei agglomeration.
