This study aims to investigate the factors influencing the adoption and use of the Internet of Things (IoT) among Pakistani university librarians. The research employed an expanded version of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) as its theoretical framework. The data were collected from 211 university librarians across Pakistan through an online questionnaire. The results revealed that personality innovativeness, environmental consciousness, performance expectancy and facilitating conditions significantly influence the behavioural intention of Pakistani university librarians to adopt and use IoT applications in their libraries. In addition, behavioural intention significantly impacts use behaviour, reinforcing the idea that stronger adoption intentions translate into increased practical usage of IoT applications in university libraries. By recognising the key determinants that impact IoT adoption, library professionals, university administrators and policymakers from developing nations can develop tailored strategies to minimise the adoption challenges, enhance technology infrastructure and ensure seamless integration of IoT applications.
