What the paper says
ABSTRACT Although extensive studies have examined knowledge sharing in hotel organizations, prior research has not highlighted how entrepreneurial behaviors influence knowledge donating in the Middle East and North Africa hospitality industry. This paper fills a significant gap by combining the resource‐based view and the social exchange theory to show how entrepreneurial behaviors (i.e., bricolage and proactiveness) drive knowledge donating through hotel social responsibility. Data were collected from 486 middle‐management employees (i.e., supervisors and unit managers) in five‐star hotels. Findings showed that hotel social responsibility enhanced the effects of entrepreneurial proactiveness and bricolage on knowledge donating. Further, employees with longer tenures were more likely to donate knowledge. Findings offer practical guidance for hotel managers and policymakers to improve sustainability and knowledge sharing.
