The shipping industry is the backbone of the global economy. Maritime transport stands as the main mode of transporting goods over long distances. The shipping industry increasingly relies on advanced digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, blockchain, internet of things, and 5G. These tools allow shipping actors to develop better management of labour, improvement of the supply chain. In this paper, we investigated the impacts and applications of these major technologies. This study aims to explore the link between digitalisation impacts and external driver. In this study, we used a quantitative research method. The data was collected through a survey with 139 observations from individuals employed in the shipping industry. This study explores how digitalisation accelerates the shipping industry, connecting its value chain by examining drivers and impacts. The research shows a positive correlation between external drivers and digitalisation impact in the shipping industry.
