Abstract

This contribution addresses some of the political and systemic challenges facing the two European courts (the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union) overseeing, each within the limits of their respective jurisdiction, respect for human rights, democracy and the rule of law across the European legal space.
