Abstract
Purpose The digital economy era demands collaborative service among the innovation service platforms for emerging industries. This study aims to address the following issues: (1) the scientific definition of the connotations and boundaries of this collaborative service; (2) the key influencing factors of the effectiveness of the collaborative service; (3) the influencing mechanisms of these factors, based on which they impact the overall innovation service capabilities of emerging industries. Design/method/approach A mixed-methods research design combining grounded theory with empirical research was adopted. Representative platform cases were selected. Multi-round coding based on in-depth interviews and document analysis identified key factors influencing collaborative service and developed a “Structure–Conduct–Performance” theoretical framework. A quantitative survey was administered, and based on 299 valid responses, this framework was empirically validated. Findings Service response, dynamic balance and demand guidance are the key factors influencing the collaborative service of innovation service platforms in emerging industries. They positively contribute to the synergy effect of platform operations. Furthermore, the platform’s synergy effect serves as a mediating mechanism linking these collaborative service influencing factors to the overall innovation services performance. Originality/value This study delineates the boundaries of collaborative service within innovation service platforms in emerging industries based on a comprehensive literature review. It develops and empirically tests a theoretical model linking “influencing factors of collaborative service–synergy effect–innovation service performance,” clarifying the distinct action paths and mediating mechanisms of key influencing factors. It proposes a practical strategic framework to improve platform collaboration efficiency and enhance sustainable value co-creation capabilities.
