Abstract

This report summarizes the themes and discussions of the 37th Annual Conference of the European Air Law Association, held in Vienna, Austria. The conference brought together representatives of the industry, legal practitioners, academics and regulators. It shed light on current legal challenges and anticipated ongoing regulatory reforms relevant for the aviation industry. The discussions revolved around the following main themes: modernization of air traffic management (ATM), the complex regulatory nature of business aviation, the competitiveness of European carriers on the global market, the nationality rules of airlines and the ongoing reform of passenger protection legislation.
