Influence of Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Environmental Ethics on Corporate Sustainable Performance: Assessing Environmental Commitment From Developing Economy
This study investigates Corporate Sustainable Performance (CSP; environmental, economic, and social sustainability) against Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR; i.e., to social and non-social stakeholders, employees, customers, and the government) in large Chinese manufacturing firms. Similarly, this study examines the direct relationship between corporate environmental ethics and CSP. Furthermore, this study examines the relationship between green innovation (green product innovation and process innovation), environmental commitment, and CSP. This study also investigates the mediating roles of green innovation and environmental commitment on CSR, corporate environmental ethics, and CSP. A survey of 367 workers revealed that CSR and corporate environmental ethics have no direct significant effect on CSP; however, they are positively associated with green innovation and environmental commitment, which augments CSP, that is, they significantly mediate between CSR, corporate environmental ethics, and CSP. From an educational and practical perspective, this framework encourages manufacturing firms to ascertain their CSR, corporate environmental ethics, green innovation, and environmental commitment to CSP augmentation.
