This study examined the outcomes of a caring, task-involving climate collaboration in a Native American women’s collegiate volleyball team. Grounded in achievement goal perspective theory and a caring framework, the collaboration was shaped by a needs assessment completed the prior spring semester. In the subsequent fall season, the lead researcher provided continuous education and support to the head coach and athletes to enhance the team’s environment. Interviews with the coach and athletes were conducted at three points, along with a survey on motivational climate perceptions. Results revealed improved perceptions of a caring, task-involving climate, contributing to positive athlete experiences despite external challenges such as academic pressures and time constraints. This research highlights the potential of motivational climate collaborations to positively influence the experiences of Native American collegiate athletes and underscores the importance of addressing contextual challenges to maintain these efforts, offering practical insights for coaches, sport psychology practitioners, and researchers.
