Neurodivergent individuals, including those with autism, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and giftedness, face unique challenges in digital workplace environments due to sensory sensitivities and design shortcomings. As part of the research presented here, workshops, interviews and a survey were conducted with neurodivergent and neurotypical people to identify pain points. The findings emphasize the necessity of clear, customizable, and intuitive designs to optimize usability while reducing physical and emotional distress. NEST-UX aims to unify diverse design needs into a single guideline that accommodates both neurodivergent and neurotypical users, fostering inclusivity and innovation. Using the Open Source modeling tool Gaphor as a case study, the research proposes solutions to common user interface issues.
