What the paper says

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has gained significant attention globally, with its use in construction projects. This study aims to investigate the adoption of BIM for sustainability in real estate, with a focus on global trends and special attention to India as a major player in the global economy. A scientometric analysis of 1,518 research articles published from 2011 to 2021 was conducted using CiteSpace software to assess the current trends. These findings provide up-to-date information to researchers, practitioners, and consultants willing to work in the sustainability domain. The analysis indicates that BIM adoption in real estate construction is increasing globally, but India has limited adoption practices in the industry and fewer research publications in this field. This paper reveals information related to the citation, publisher network, cohort analysis, cluster analysis, and network analysis. The results reveal that countries such as the U.S. and the U.K. lead in research output, with India contributing just less than 2% of publications. The key research topics include life cycle assessment, sustainable building design, safety, BIM, and information technological innovation. The insights and recommendations are crucial for encouraging broader adoption of BIM and boosting its contribution to sustainable real estate in India and globally.
